The fifth annual School Library Boot Camp 2016 will be held July 18-21, 2016 at the South Dakota State Library in Pierre.

Primary Sources | Schedule

It's all about Primary Sources in the 21st Century School Library

What is a primary source? Where can I find primary sources to use with my students? How do I integrate primary sources into my lessons?

Find the answers to these questions and more at the State Library in Pierre from July 18-21 during Boot Camp 2016. Students will explore Primary Sources in the 21st Century School Library with an emphasis on integrating research and social studies standards. Class time will include activities at the Cultural Heritage Center Museum and Archives, a tour of the Oahe Dam, and a visit with a Lewis and Clark expert.

Boot Camp is a two credit Black Hills State University course and may be taken at either the undergraduate or graduate level. All educators are welcome - librarians, classroom teachers, technology integrationists, paraprofessionals, administrators, etc.

All hotel reservations and costs, as well as meals and transportation costs are the responsibility of the individual student. A group rate has been arranged at the Ramkota Hotel (605/224-6877) for $70 single per night or $89.99 double plus tax. (Code: SD State Library Boot Camp) However, students may make any other lodging arrangements of their choice. Scholarships are available for tuition costs. Some evening hours are required.
