AncestryLibrary
AncestryLibrary is a library version of Ancestry.com's celebrated genealogical database that provides instant access to more than one billion names in more than 3,000 databases, including digital images of the 1790-1940 US Censuses, as well as immigration, vital, court, church, and ethnic records; city directories, genealogical societies, Social Security Death Index, family history library, Civil War Pension Index, and 700 historical maps.
AncestryLibrary can be accessed exclusively on personal computers located within SD libraries and on SD campuses (academic, K-12, & SD government). Library card bar-code numbers and passwords CANNOT be used to access AncestryLibrary.
Due to contract limitations with database producer, myfamilyinc.com
, remote/home access to AncestryLibrary is NOT possible. AncestryLibrary is available only on equipment whose static, external/public IP addresses are listed on ProQuest IP Address Registers (or IP filters).
Funded by South Dakota taxpayers and by federal Library Services & Technology Act/LSTA monies, the SD State Library makes AncestryLibrary databases available free-of-charge throughout South Dakota.
