Learning Express helps improve lives

Learning Express, a subscription electronic resource provided free from the State Library, offers patrons the opportunity to take practice tests to improve or change careers, enhance job or academic skills, or prepare for citizenship or college admission.

Practice tests for over 770 jobs and careers include Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL), Nursing and Allied Health, Plumbing, Civil Service, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services and many more.

College and graduate level admission practice tests offered are ACT, SAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, GMAT and others.

The practice GED test will help those working toward completing high school, and skills improvement tests are available in basic subject areas for grades four and up.

The U.S. Citizenship practice test is offered in English and Spanish.

Test results are immediate and give a diagnostic page to pinpoint strengths and weaknesses. Answers contain explanations, so patrons can see why they are right or wrong.

The Job Search & Workplace Skills section helps patrons create resumes and prepares them for interviews and the world of work in general.

More support is contained in Learning Express’s full-text electronic books about careers, academic tests and skill building.

Create an account in Learning Express, select a practice test and prepare for the future! Users must create their own accounts, including their e-mail addresses. If you already have an account, you will be asked to give your e-mail address to activate the new password retrieval feature “Forgot password?”

For printable posters, demos and help sheets about Learning Express go to library.sd.gov.

To get started, free, direct access is available from the State Library Web site within libraries and schools in South Dakota, and 24/7 access is available to citizens from home with a library barcode and password.
