ProQuest gets facelift and other resource news
This fall, ProQuest, the full-text online article resource, will get a new look, improved functionality and enhanced ease of use. Its search capability will allow more accurate, detailed searching with fewer clicks. Features will include more visuals, including full-image content searching; the ability to cite, customize, manage and share search results; links to full-text articles from magazines on the Web, such as Time.
No exact date has been set for the new platform launch. The State Library Electronic Resources Coordinators will keep you informed. A brief flash video with a sneak peek is available here: Proquest.com (Flash video).
Other Electronic Resource News
World Book made some recent upgrades to improve access to its resources. Please double-check that the World Book URL's (Web addresses) on your Web pages are the correct ones to allow direct click-and-go access inside the library and SDLN library card access at home. The correct URL’s are located here: library.sd.gov: World Book URLs. (If you are asked to login when clicking on the link to the correct URL’s, copy and paste the link.) Contact Julie Erickson, email or 1-800-423-6665 if you have questions.
The popular new NBC TV show, “Who Do You Think You Are?” featuring Ancestry.com begins a new season August 13. Be prepared to show patrons AncestryLibrary, available in your libraries, and HeritageQuest, available in your libraries or from home, courtesy of the State Library’s statewide subscription.
Remember that the State Library Electronic Resources Coordinators are ready to give trainings to library and school staffs at no charge. If you are West River, contact Julie Erickson, email. If you are East River, contact Jane Healy, email. We look forward to working with you!
