Gale Virtual Reference Library gets facelift

Gale Virtual Reference Library

Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) has migrated to a new platform, providing a more visually appealing, intuitive interface that caters to both searching and browsing.

You can now more easily search

  • across all titles, by typing a search term in the box at the top of the home page
  • within a subject area, by clicking the subject in the left sidebar and typing a search term in the box to the right of the subject heading
  • within one book or volume, by clicking a book cover and typing a search term in the box under the book cover on the left sidebar.

The new GVRL interface allows easy download and transfer of articles to an e-reader or MP3 player, article read aloud in multiple languages, bookmarking and more.

GVRL provides all South Dakota libraries with a core reference collection that's accessible 24/7 to an unlimited number of users. GVRL contains selected multi-volume reference titles in many subject areas. Though many of the titles owned here have older copyright dates, the basic information in specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias and coverage of literature and social sciences never grows old.

Learn more about the new platform in this brief tutorial and updated handouts, available here: http://library.sd.gov/LIB/ERD/gale/gvrl.aspx.
